In recent years, our community has faced moments of deep heartbreak. Several tragic incidents, including the loss of multiple students to suicide, have shaken us to our core.
Each story is a reminder that behind the smiles and day-to-day conversations, many are silently struggling with overwhelming stress, loneliness, and despair.
For many in the Bangladeshi community across Germany especially students, the challenges are immense:
Isolation from family and friends, often thousands of kilometers away.
Academic and career pressure in a competitive environment.
Financial difficulties due to the current job market crisis.
Cultural stigma surrounding mental health conversations, leading to silence instead of seeking help.
Language and integration barriers that make accessing professional services difficult.
These struggles are often invisible until it is too late. We have seen how moments of crisis can escalate quickly when there is no one to turn to — no safe, non-judgmental space to simply talk and be heard.
The Listening Point was born out of the urgent need to change this. We exist to ensure that no one has to navigate their darkest moments alone. Through our network of trained volunteer Active Listeners, we provide:
A confidential and neutral space for open conversation.
Immediate human connection and empathy when it’s most needed.
Guidance towards professional help when required.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to bridge the gap between suffering in silence and receiving help. We believe that early listening can save lives, and that one compassionate conversation can be the turning point for someone in pain.
We are here because too many lives have been lost, and too many more are silently enduring their struggles. We are here because every life matters. We are here for you.
