"Sometimes the most powerful way to help is to listen."
The idea for The Listening Point began when I witnessed the silent battles many in our community were fighting — far from home, under academic and financial pressure, often without anyone they could truly open up to. Tragic events, including the loss of several students to suicide, made it painfully clear that something had to change.
I knew I couldn’t do this alone. Today, I work alongside a group of caring and committed advisors — people who share the same vision of a world where no one feels they have to face their darkest moments alone. These advisors bring diverse perspectives, life experience, and a deep commitment to empathy, kindness, and human connection.
Neutrality: We are non-political, non-religious, and non-judgmental.
Confidentiality: What’s shared with us stays with us.
Empathy: We focus on understanding before responding.
Community Care: We believe mental health support begins in everyday conversations.
Through our trained volunteer Active Listeners, we provide:
One-on-one conversations for emotional support
Guidance to professional help when needed
Awareness to reduce stigma around mental health
A network that spans universities and cities across Germany
We envision a community where reaching out for help is a sign of strength, where listening is a shared skill, and where compassion is a normal part of daily life.
The Listening Point is not just an initiative — it’s a movement to bring care, empathy, and connection back to the heart of our community.
